Happy New Year!!

Its never too late though to set my New Year's target.

  1. Read more. I'm no fans of books but I realise how important it is to read. It opens up one's mind.
  2. Learn to save.
  3. Be more optimistic. She suggested this one then I realised I've always doubt myself - can I really do this? am I good enough?. This has to stop!
  4. Istiqamah. It's a term for doing things repeatedly in other words habits. "Melentur buluh biar dari rebung" thus I'm hoping to be istiqamah in my daily amalan.
  5. Be healthy.
"The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step." - Lao Tzu
and I believe setting my aims is my one step to a good year insyaAllah..

surviving uni..

Being a student is tough. Especially when you're studying in one of the top universities either overseas or local institutions. Even if you're among the top students,, 'the cream of the cream' as most people would say,, doesn't mean that you'll survive in your future studies.

I've been studying for almost three months now and "I'd say its one hell of a ride" . Having minimum of two labs each week,, with preparations to be done beforehand plus problem sheets that keep coming at you with datelines to keep. HELL YEAHH!!

Now that I think of it,, this is one of the reasons interviews are being done for scholarships. In fact, some universities did interviews as well to ensure that we students are on the right track (they've reputations to maintain - students failing courses aren't an option).

So future students out there,, here's some useful advice from me..

  1. Apply for courses that you're really interested in,, not because your parents ask you to. Ask yourself what do you enjoy doing,, what are the things that you look forward to. Its important to be passionate about your studies to be successful in future
  2. Plan your time wisely and postponing your assignments, coursework etc. too much is a no no!! Procrastinating leads to last-minute work which results in low marks and understanding. It's important to try obtain highest marks as possible for you coursework as it will help you with percentage in your final exams.
  3. Be mentally and physically prepared.
And finally,, no matter what happens keep moving forward. Life has its up and down,, but that's not an excuse for you to weep and blame yourself or others. Give it your best shot at everything you do,, insyaAllah success will come straight at you!!

Winter's coming!!

a weekend well spent.

Hoo hoo hoo!! Winter's coming everyone so I guess its time to go... SHOPPING~~!! So twelve of us including me went to Portsmouth last weekend ( lots of retail outlets can be found there - sales everywhere~~ ).

We went there by National Express bus which costs us around 5pounds return trip. Ticket price differs, usually depends on offers, group tickets, trips etc.

This place is called Gunwharf Quays. See that green logo on the most left side of the building? Yeah I probably should've snap this closer to that so that you all can see but oh well..

Anyway,, there are many branded outlets such as 'Timberland', 'Superdry Store', 'Nike', 'Adidas' and my favourite so far, 'Clarks' since they always offer massive discounts on high quality shoes! You'd usually find most stuff being sold at discounted price here ( up to 70% at certain occasions ). I bought a Nike running shoes for 20pounds last time I went here. Cool eh??

That's me with them guys ( and few girls tagged along as well ) getting excited to go shopping! Don't mind the not-so-excited faces, haha!!

Getting hungry eh?? Stop by Rooster's Piri Piri. It's near to 'Spinnaker Tower'. Everything's guaranteed halal so you don't have to worry about that. Don't forget to try the Hot Chocolate together with Extra Hot Piri Piri Chicken ( it's not that hot, not to worry ).

They really do enjoyed shopping at Gunwharf especially the girls. You should see them with their shopping bags!! HAHA!! Shoot,, I should've snap a picture. -.-

Not for me though,, I was aiming to buy myself a Superdry puffer jacket for winter. So the next day, I went to WestQuay with Kucai and bought this super-cool,, super-nice jacket!!

That is how I spent my weekend last week. It was nice to just go out and enjoy myself after a long tiring week. Hope all of you enjoyed your weekend as well.. Goodnight,, farewell..

Chapter V : Southampton

It was a tiring yet exciting week for me here in Southampton. Yup, I'm currently in Southampton doing my degree in Electronic Engineering (MEng) for four years. Its been almost two months now. I should probably start posting some pictures now eh?? Haha. Here you go!!

It took me a while to find a perfect spot to just snap a picture and say "Hey!! I'm in UK!!". Then I found one while I was walking around the city. See that huge (well,, not that huge) tower-ish building behind me?? That's bargate.

Well.. I don't wanna spend more time talking about Bargate for now,, but if you're really interested in knowing the story behind that gate... GOOGLE IT!! Sounds annoying eh?? Haha!! Just so you know GOOGLE will be your best friend indeed if you're studying under Electronic and Computer Science(ECS) here.

Aaaannndddd lastly,, WESTQUAY!! Not bad for a shopping mall. You'll find some branded clothes like H&M, ZARA and SuperDry Store here.

Got tonnes of cool stuff to share with you guys but its getting late and I should probably get some rest.. To sum up,, being here in Southampton is such a wonderful thing that ever happened in my life and I'm really grateful.. Thanks MARA!! Hehe..
